Creative Innovation: The Art Of Wine
We’ve all been there, walking down the countless isles at your local liquor store searching for what you think will be a great bottle of wine for the night ahead. If your anything like me, you may know a few varieties that you’ve taken a gamble on before and been satisfied with, but there’s something to be said for the effect the label and it’s design can have on your decision power. Maybe it’s just my creative nature but there must be some sort of influential power behind this packaging. We all know that advertisers have used packaging to sway customers for years, even convincing them that a mediocre product may be the right choice. To the average Joe, do we really know the difference between a Shiraz bottled in California vs. one from Australia? Even then how do we choose from the 50 different vineyards in any particular area? I think these labels must have a big role in our final deciding power.
In the last 10 years the trends towards wine labeling have shifted away from traditional, stuffy labels to fun, whimsical and even humorous methods of capturing our attention. The wine market looks more like a trip to the art gallery than it does anything else. From Cubist renderings to Post Modern bliss, you can help but get lost in the beauty and shear genius of this new trend. New services have even sprouted up to help you remove and preserve your favorite labels. All that being said, for all of us over here at AERA we salut the wine label. We admire your diversity, your persuasive power and your ultimate allure. Here’s a small sampling of some of our most current favorites. We hope you enjoy!
